Frequently Asked Questions

Our grant application deadline is March 1st of every year.

We give out grants on an annual basis, and given the timing of our application process we for the most part require that the funds be used in a single year. Having said that, occasionally support is provided for a two-year period if the Trustees feel the request justifies such support.

Decisions are made by the Board of Trustees in May of each year and grants are awarded shortly afterwards.

We only accept grant applications through our website. Please do not mail your application to the Foundation’s PO Box as paper applications will not be reviewed or accepted.

  2. Social and community programs in Baltimore City, or the surrounding areas, directly benefiting the children of Baltimore City.
  3. Education programs in Baltimore City or the surrounding areas, directly benefiting the children of Baltimore City.

We are enthusiastic about programs that are innovative, change lives and have a direct and substantial impact on the lives of Baltimore City’s children. The total number of children affected by the program is also highly regarded.

Yes, the Foundation only funds programs for the benefit of the children and youth of Baltimore City. We define “youth” as individuals 18 years of age or younger.

Reach out to us at info@thomaswilsonfoundation.org. We can discuss your program and try to help clarify if it falls into categories of what we normally support.

The amount of our grant requests fall into a wide range, depending on the program’s reach, scope and requirements, all of which should be outlined in detail on your grant application. The typical request we receive tends to fall into the range of $2,500 to $10,000.
